TADI Talking Voice Organizer Helps the Blind and Low Vision Manage Their Busy Schedules

MaxiAids Products for Independent Living offers the TADI Talking Voice Organizer in English, French or Spanish, an exciting new device for the low-vision or blind user.

Life moves faster and faster every day. Multitasking has become a necessity. We demand the ultimate in productivity and efficiency of ourselves, and by extension, of our personal devices as well. The low-vision or blind consumer is no exception.

Until now, the low-vision or blind consumer has had to use one device for phone dialing, another device for note recording, another to know what time it is and another for reminders. The TADI Talking Voice Organizer is a powerful yet lightweight portable personal organizer that neatly replaces all these gadgets.

The TADI is not just a recorder, reminder, calendar or phone dialer. It’s all of those, plus much more. It’s a talking phone dialer, talking notepad, and talking address book. It’s also a talking diary, talking calculator, talking reminder and talking clock. The user can learn from the talking tutorials how to easily and almost intuitively program and operate the unit.

Its alphanumeric QWERTY keypad has raised guide points for sightless entry. Each keyboard action is clearly voiced, so the user never makes a mistake. Working in crowded environments? The TADI has an earphone jack so only the user can hear its spoken functions. Concerned about security? The TADI has password protection options, so everything stays private.

Just one touch gives the user access to the 900 available phonebook contacts, message recording and playback, searching, recording, listening, copy, paste and speech. With the easy search feature, users no longer have to scroll through recorded notes, credit card information, phone numbers or reminders to find the right one. Simple, fast searching saves time and increases efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.

When it’s time to share information with friends, family or co-workers, the TADI can download or upload data to and from your computer. It can store up to five hours’ worth of digital recording.

What’s more, the TADI measures only 5-3/4 x 3-1/2, so it can travel anywhere easily. It has adjustable volume and screen contrast. It runs on three AAA batteries or on a power supply.

The TADI is a device that will make any user’s life easier and much more efficient. MaxiAids offers this great item at a special discounted price through their website at http://www.maxiaids.com. President Obama Proclaims October ‘National Disability Employment Awareness Month’. Is Your Workplace Accessible?

President Obama recently proclaimed October 2012 as ‘National Disability Employment Awareness Month.’ In his proclamation, the President stressed the importance of making the disabled part of economic recovery efforts in the United States.

“During National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we recognize the indispensable contributions people with disabilities make in our economy,” he declared “and recommit to building a country where each of us can realize the full extent of our dreams.”

Part of any plan to bring more individuals with disabilities into the nation’s workforce includes taking advantage of available assistive products to establish a more accessible workplace.

Every day, existing products are being improved and new technologies developed that can help people who are blind or have diminished vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, and those who have special needs work more efficiently and effectively in an office environment.

Assistive products can quickly pay themselves off in improved communication and increased productivity for workers. And they give business owners access to the eager and capable, but largely untapped source of employees available in the disabled community.

MaxiAids Offers Sharp, Clear Magnification On The Go

Whether you’re out for a day of shopping, handling correspondence or perusing the menu at a fine restaurant, a handheld electronic magnifier provides customized magnification at the touch of a button.

You don’t have to struggle with tiny acrylic magnifiers that may show only one letter at a time. You don’t have to go to the expense and inconvenience of a large closed-caption unit that requires a lot of space on a desk, plus a TV or computer monitor.

Electronic handheld magnifiers have screens like tiny computer screens, so no matter how high the magnification you need, the screen stays the same size, so you can see your material comfortably. Switching magnification levels is a breeze. Simply toggle up or down at the flick of a switch to increase or decrease magnification.

You can switch between black on white or white on black, or several combinations of color. Any printed or handwritten material, or any image, can be magnified to your perfect comfort level.

These magnifiers are also very cost-effective, costing a fraction of what traditional CCTV units cost. Unlike other portable units which require a monitor or computer screen, these units can literally fit in your purse or pocket.

We proudly offer several units that our customers really love. The first is the Snow Portable Video Magnifier, item number 607669 at $ 459.00. It delivers 2X to 16X magnification on a 4.3-inch color screen, plus Freeze Frame technology. You can connect the Snow to your TV or computer for larger viewing.

Another is the Eye-C Portable Video Magnifier, item # 357124 at $ 595.00. It offers 1.5X to 17X magnification and anti-blur technology.

A third is the Smartview Nano Portable Video Magnifier, item # 358720 at $ 196.00. This petite item is for those customers who want plenty of bang for their buck. It magnifies 5x to 20x on its 1.8 inch screen and boasts many of the features of its larger cousins.

See all these items and many more representing the latest in magnifying technology at our website, MaxiAids.com

MaxiAids Web-A-Thon Supports Red Cross and Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

This week, we at MaxiAids felt the power of Hurricane Sandy, but were fortunate enough to come through it safely. However, many people have lost entire homes and some families are dealing with the worst imaginable scenario - loss of life. First and foremost, at this difficult time our thoughts are with all of those impacted by this historic storm.

With that in mind, MaxiAids Products for Independent Living is hosting a 24-hour web-a-thon on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, during which 10% of the proceeds from web purchases made all day long (from 12:00am to 11:59pm) will be donated to The American Red Cross.

The Red Cross responds to approximately 70,000 disasters in the United States every year, ranging from home fires to hurricanes to earthquakes. In these events, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, health and mental health services to help families and entire communities get back on their feet.

Currently in the New York metropolitan area, many people see their streets still inaccessible due to fallen trees and power lines, and hundreds of thousands of homes remain without electricity a week after the hurricane. While some families are staying with friends, relatives or in temporary housing, countless others struggle to stay warm in unheated homes amid freezing temperatures, with a nor’easter forecast in the next couple of days.

This web-a-thon is a great opportunity for MaxiAids and its many loyal customers to team up and contribute to a truly worthy cause, and help our friends and neighbors who are facing hardships in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

MaxiAids is fully stocked and ready to send our assistive products wherever they are needed!

About MaxiAids: MaxiAids Products for Independent Living is an industry-leading supplier of products for seniors as well as those with special needs, including the blind, low vision, deaf, hard of hearing, arthritic, diabetic and those with mobility challenges. President Obama Proclaims October ‘National Disability Employment Awareness Month’ - Is Your Workplace Accessible?

As President Obama recently proclaimed October 2012 ‘National Disability Employment Awareness Month,’ MaxiAids Products for Independent Living shares insights on the range of new products and recent developments in technology available to help those with special needs thrive in the workplace

Farmingdale, NY - President Obama recently proclaimed October 2012 as ‘National Disability Employment Awareness Month.’ In his proclamation, the President stressed the importance of making the disabled part of economic recovery efforts in the United States.

Traditional desktop electronic magnifiers have long helped those with low vision read printed items more easily. They offer powerful magnification to individuals working from a fixed location.

But newer models have now come to market that are extremely lightweight (as little as 5 lbs.) and come with carry cases, so that they may be easily transported. This ease of portability provides a new level of flexibility which can be especially helpful for employees who have the option of telecommuting and those who may not always work from the same location.

And features are also expanding, as electronic video magnifiers are now available that magnify text and pictures as much as 100 times their original size, and even allow the user to view a blackboard (or whiteboard) at a distance – a valuable tool for an employee in a business meeting or viewing a presentation

Along with the continued growth of the internet, e-commerce and computer use has come more sophisticated magnification and screen reading software for the blind and visually impaired. Screen magnifiers can enlarge text on a computer screen up to 36 times, while screen readers read documents, web pages, email, or anything on the computer screen aloud - right through your computer's speakers.

For people with hearing loss, personal listening systems and amplified telephones increase the volume of incoming sound and adjust its tone, making it easier to hear and understand speech. These products help hearing impaired people (including hearing aid users) communicate more easily in one-to-one conversations, in business meetings and on telephone calls.

Assistive products can quickly pay themselves off in improved communication and increased productivity for workers. And they give business owners access to the eager and capable, but largely untapped source of employees available in the disabled community.

Above are only a sampling of the products and technology available to help disabled individuals function more effectively in the workplace. Visit www.MaxiAids.com to see these and many more products that support active, healthy and independent lifestyles for all individuals.

It's easy to install indoors and outdoors, and is a low cost tool to help keep your blind and visually impaired patrons safe.

The STEP-HEAR consists of two units, the Base and the Activator. Here's how it works:

1. The Base is installed in key locations, with pre-recorded information stored in its digital memory.
2. The Activator, held by the user, vibrates when it enters within 12 feet of the base to alert the user that there is a STEP-HEAR nearby.

Get a Visual Alert of Incoming Cell Calls & Texts

Just put your cell phone in the cradle and get a bright visual signal if it rings! LightOn was specifically developed as a means of alerting the deaf and hard of hearing when a call or SMS (text message) is received on their cell/mobile phone. As soon as a new call or SMS comes in, a bright LED light is triggered, which continues to flash until the user notices the missed call and resets the unit.

LightOn technology is based on special vibration sensors that are responsive only to the vibrations produced by mobile phones, while ignoring any disturbances from external sources. When a text message is received, or the cell phone rings, LightOn immediately converts the vibration signals into a brightly flashing LED light that alerts the user about a new message or missed call.
